What Will Be Covered:

Nothing lasts forever. When you buy a brand new car from the lot and you get into an accident, you want to make sure that you get the right coverage so that you don’t have to pay for a whole new car again. This same principle applies to getting a new roof installed on your home.

A roof warranty usually comes with the installation of a new roof or roofing system. A roof warranty helps to protect you from paying out of pocket in case there is a manufacturing defect in the roof shingles.

When you go with a GAF Certified roofing contractor, depending on the type of roof installed, a warranty is an extra perk that you will get, so that you can have a piece of mind. GAF roof shingles are tested and proven to withstand heavy winds and rainfall and today let’s discuss what is the warranty on GAF Timberline roof shingles:

The Importance of Having a Roof Warranty

Installing a new GAF Timberline series roof or any other GAF roofs on your home is a smart investment that will help to protect you from heavy storms and the outside elements.

By having a GAF roof warranty, you can protect your investment and save time incase there are any manufacturing defects or problems with the roof installation.

Any kind of defect in the roof shingles may not have an affect right after the roof has been replaced, but could show up years later.

Having to repair your roof over a small roof shingle defect can also get quite expensive, which is why by having a good GAF roof shingle warranty is the best option to have, because like car insurance, it can save you TONS of money and time in the long run.

What is GAF?

GAF roofing shingles have been through rigorous testing against high winds and heavy storms, because of this, GAF is confident in giving great warranties for their roofing shingles. Some of the types of roof shingle warranties are not exactly the same and largely depends on the type of roof shingles.

Types of Roof Shingle Warranties:

There are different types of warranties that are given by certain roofing contractors and manufacturers which include:

  • Roofing Material Warranties: Roofing materials that fail to meet quality standards and/or are defective are covered.
  • Labor Warranties: Errors in roof installation or any future problems that occur as a result of poor roof installation is covered. Generally most roofing contractors offer 2-10 year labor warranties.
  • Roofing System Warranties (offered by GAF): This type of roof warranty is the best because not only are the roofing materials & shingles covered, but the installation costs are covered as well. This type of roof warranty by GAF is only available to those who replace or install a roof with a GAF Certified roofing contractor.

The GAF System Plus roof warranty is arguably one of the best roof warranties you can get on the market. This warranty not only covers the roof shingles themselves but the entire roofing system! Watch the video below to learn more about the entire roofing system that is covered with the GAF System Plus warranty:

This GAF System Plus warranty can only be applied when the roof is installed by a GAF Certified roofing contractor. If you decide to do the roof yourself or go with a roofer that is offering low roof installation prices, be aware that the roof shingles themselves only have coverage if there is a manufacturing defect.

One of the main benefits of going with a GAF certified roofing contractor is that you get full protection, if the roof is installed incorrectly, the contractor must fix the issue in order to remain GAF certified. Bad workmanship and customer service is not accepted by GAF.
